The Letter

(OOC: is there anyway I can sneak behind them through cover and the trees?)

I get out the sharps, and after watching a bit, if they don't do anything, I'll take a shot at the cover they are sheltering behind, not intending to kill, just to get a reaction out of them.

[OOC - how many rounds to I have for my different guns? Really not sure of how people interact in the wilderness in this day and age, so I hope I'm not being too paranoid. My only frame of reference is westerns, and in those its always bandits that follow you. I'm hoping if they are innocent, the shot might get them to run off. If I do anything completely off the charts for civilized person of the late 1800s, please let me know ]

15 to 20 minutes pass without in change, so you fire a shot into the woods.

[Both]
You both see the three men ride out of the wooded area heading down the road away from you on horseback...quickly. You can see them very long as the road makes a bend and you lose sight of them.

[ooc: Ammo? You mean you're not keeping track!! For shame! ....alright I'm kidding. I was just planning on letting you shoot until it gets to be very dramatic and then have you run out of ammo. I haven't decided. I really didn't want to bog us down with stuff like that. We'll just say that if you go an extended period with a lot of shooting and having been to a town to resupply in a while then we may save it for a critical failure... and have that be 'out of ammo'. ]

I mount back up, wait for Strange Owl, and then we continue on our way. I make sure we set watch when we make camp.

I quickly follow Adam's lead keeping an extra watchful eye out for ppl following us.

You both ride for about an hour when you notice the trail leading into a narrow ravine. The man is well hidden but Adam [thanks to Danger Sense] spots him in a place where he has a good shooting advantage over anyone in the ravine. Glancing behind you, you both notice that the three riders have returned. It would seem the whole plan was to ambush you in the ravine.

I warn Strange Owl to cover the guys behind us, slide from the horse and try to take cover, taking aim at the guy covering the ravine and firing as soon as I have a good shot on him. I'll use my winchester since its still to hand, and he's close.

[OOC - I'm assuming I put my sharps rifle back in the blanket after the men rode off earlier, if I still would have it out, then it is what I shoot with.]

I slide off the horse and find cover pulling out my rifle waiting for a good shot on the 3 guys behind us.

[OOC: When you both dismount we'll start initiative. Here's the order:]
1) Robbers
2) Strange Owl
3) Adam

[Robber 1-3]
Dismounts their horses and heads for medium cover. Weapon was already ready for the ambush.

[Robber 4]
Takes a shot at Adam and misses.

[Strange Owl]
You draw your rifle from it's holster [Fast ready: Agility -2: Success!] and move into medium cover.

[Adam]
With your rifle already out, you dismount and head to medium cover. You fire a shot at robber #4 and miss.
[ooc: he's at medium range -2, and heavy cover -4: TN = 10 Aiming a turn would help.]

[ooc: Yeah, I accidentally skipped ya. It's fixed above although you ended up missing. You could try a benny if you want.]


[Strange Owl]
You take a shot at the and hit. [target number: 6... you rolled a 6 which is an "Ace" on a d6... added roll of 5 for a total of 11. Which gives you one 'raise' (a raise for each 4 over target number) which adds an extra d6 damage per raise.] Robber 2 drops and appears to be incapacitated.

Hoping I've got the guy ahead keeping his head down, I turn and take a shot at one of the guys behind us, using a round to aim if the shot looks difficult.

You turn and look at Robber 3. You will definately have a better chance if you take a turn to aim. So you aim at Robber 3.

You take a shot at Robber 1 and miss.
